Goodbye's and hello's

The wind is getting stronger while the air feels colder every day.
People shut their eyes only not the see that the days get darker.
The work gets harder only because of the shadows which make it harder to see.
And my breath leaves my longs only because one day it got in.
Not because it wants to go out.
Because nobody, nothing wants to go out.
The cold is freezing our hearts, our minds.
And the only thing I want to wish you my dear readers

Is a warm, fresh en wonderful New Year. Enjoy your life, and try to make the best of 2012 <3

I'm still here

The days are passing so quickly and it feels like at this moment I don't have grip on anything at all. There's so much I want to tell you, but I have so little time. This week we have our project week at school, so I promise I'll make an enormous post about the past weeks for you. So much has happened, also a lot of cool things :D

Köln, exchange and Christmas market

I. Am. So. Exhausted. This week was definitely one of the most stressing weeks of this whole year. A girl from Greece came to visit me, and there where a lot of things planned to do with her. She wasn't the only one BTW, there where also 4 other foreign students. They stayed with 3 friends of mine. We went to Maastricht, some kind of internship organisation, the Leeuwenborgh college and the Christmas Market in Köln. I almost couldn't go to school, so I missed a lot of lessons (not that bad, the only thing is ... I have to do it all on my own now)

Today I went to the Media Cité in Liège. There you can find the Primark, New Look, H&M and a lot of other nice shops. I was looking for a prom dress, but I couldn't find the right one unfortunately. But I bought some other cool things. You'll see them below.

We heart it?

[No source]

Okay so, last week I was looking on the internet for some interesting blogs and I found one which is pretty special (http://blog.sabinemetz.nl/). There I saw an article about the inspiration site ''Weheartit''(Click here) I guess you all know it, and if you don't let my explain where it's actually about.

Weheartit is a site where everyone can post inspirational or interesting pictures. You only have to make an account, install the ''heart''-button on your internet browser and whenever you see a cool picture or drawing online you just click on it and it's on your ''hearts'' collection. Sounds fun right? Well, it would be if people used it this way. Unfortunately some people don't. The problem is actually that a lot of people save these pictures from Weheartit and then upload them again, or post them on their blog. Normally when you ''heart'' a picture the source stays. But when people save it and upload it again on their blogs the source gets lost and nobody knows who's picture it is anymore. A lot of times bloggers don't put the source under the photo, even though there's copyright on it.

A lot of bloggers are using other people's photographs in their posts without even noting where the picture's actually from. They don't have to work for the photo, they only have to copy the URL or save and upload the picture and the work is done. A lot of these people don't even think about how much work it is for a photographer to make these pictures (and I'm not even talking about the work it costs editing them) I realized that when I first started I also did this. Happily I know now what's behind the whole story and I will never post a photograph of someone else without permission or without noting the source.

I just want to say that I think it's wrong to use Weheartit this way. Of course it's an amazing site if you're looking for inspiration but please use it carefully. Photographers put hours in their work, and if you want a picture on your blog, please put the source under it or just ask the photographer :)

Question: What do you think about using photographs this way?

Tired, but indescribably satisfied

Wow, I have to take another breathe. I almost can't believe that past three days are over and that life is just going on. That's just some thing about me, I can't say goodbye to beautiful or amazing happenings. I only want them to continue endlessly, but I guess that's not what reality's about. Well, if I have to describe my trip to Lille, Oostende and Antwerpen I can only use one word: indescribable. Okay, that kind of sounds like a paradox. Try to figure it out then ;)
I had the most amazing time there, and I'm so impressed by all the things I've seen. I'm also thankful to my friends, some of them joined the trip and we had the most amazing time together. I don't think I'd know what to do without them! Hmm ... The photographs took me hours, but I'm really happy with them because they totally show how the journey looked like.
The first day we drove 2 1/2 hours to get in Lille. We went to a youth hostel and believe me, you've never been in a worse place ever. It was disgusting out there, and our sheets weren't even clean. Happily we only had to sleep here for 1 night. We ate something at a Egyptian restaurant and after that we went back to the hostel. The second day we went to the museum of Modern art in Lille. After this the bus took us to Oostende. I'd never been there before, but it's an amazing place! It's a cute coast city with all these beach shops and nice restaurants. Here we had to stay in another hostel, but this one was waaayy better. The next day I heard there had been a fight between boys of our school and boys who lived in the city itself. And when I came out of the hostel I saw a lot of food lying in front of the entrance. I wonder if we're ever allowed to come back again ... I made photos at the beach, and I really enjoyed feeling the sea wind going through my hair. It was really cold, but I didn't even feel it. After that we went to the photography museum in Antwerpen. That was kind of a downer actually, I expected more, especially because of the fact that I just love photography. We didn't have the time to go shopping anymore (that didn't matter anyway because we'd had a lot of time in Lille) so we went back home. I'm exhausted, but it was all really worth it. Here are the pictures, hopefully you enjoy them as much as I do.

Lille and Antwerpen

Just a quick post before I go. Because this evening I'll go to Lille, and tomorrow I'll be in Antwerpen. It's a school trip, especially for the people who are interested in art. It's going to be fun, and I'm very curious because I've never been in Lille before. So, I'll post the pictures as quick as possible when I'm back :)
